MY LETTERING ESSENTIALS! ♡

Hello, hello everyone! For today's post I'll be sharing some of my lettering essentials. These are my MUST-HAVES and the ones that I reach out to the most when I'm doing a lettering art piece.

In this post, I'll be going more in-depth about the products since I wasn't able to touch on some parts in the video.
1. Pencil and Eraser
Personally, I prefer using mechanical pencils compared to wooden ones because they are always sharp and it's easier to use since you just click click click when you ran out of lead. The one I have is from Faber Castle and any mechanical pencil will do, these are pretty cheap and you can easily find them in National Bookstore or any other art stores. For my eraser, I just have an old rubber eraser that i don't even remember the brand. As long as it erases, i'm good with it. haha
2. Watercolor Paper
One of my most asked question is what paper do I use for my letterings and the answer is Canson Watercolo Paper. I love this so much because it's affordable and it's great to use whenever I do blending and watercoloring. You can find them in different art stores such as HeyKessy, National Bookstore, Craft Central (I think). The individual sheets costs P60 and the 12x18 costs around P300, very affordable compared to other brands. I also love how they are able to hold water well, I highly recommend you use this even if you are just using brushpens!
3. Scratch Paper
When I have left over bits and pieces of watercolor paper, I always use them as scratch for my next artwork. I always, ALWAYS, do a pencil sketch first just to see how I will layout my words and if everything looks good together. I suggest you also keep some scratch by your side so that you won't make a mistake when you start doing your artwork. This will save you so much paper and time (since you won't have to erase and redo all the time). In addition, I also use this to test out my color swatches. I check first if the colors look good together and if they make a good gradient.
4. Brushpens
You must have figured out by now that my favorite writing material is the brushpen! I have already made 2 previous videos about brushpens so I won't dwell on it too much. You can check out my 2 videos here:

5. Watercolors
Besides the brushpen, I also love to use watercolors from time to time. The ones that I tend to reach out the most are my Koi palette, my Finetec Pearl Watercolor and my Simbalion Watercolor cakes. If you want to purchase them you can buy it here:

6. Waterbrush
Ever since I started using waterbrushes, I've never gone back to normal paint brushes. They are much convenient to use since the water is already inside the brush and I prefer the nylon tip of the waterbrush. Once cool technique you can also do is fill up the waterbrush with pigment and you have your customized "brushpen". If you want to purchase your waterbrush you can check it out here:

7. Unipin Pens
After doing my lettering, I always add some little details to my artwork like outlined drop shadow, stars, dots, etc. and without a doubt I always use the Unipin Pens. I have the range from 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5, and 0.7 (not sure why I don't have the 0.6) These pens are awesome to write with and they are smooth and easy to use. They don't bleed which I like and you can buy them at National Bookstore for P65.50.
8. Uniball Signo White
If you want to add depth and definition to your works (regardless if it's a lettering or a drawing) I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you use the uniball signo white pen. Every time I use this to add highlights, it just adds a whole new dimension to my work. Swear, it really brings my letterings to the next level! I have already gone through heaps and heaps of this pen haha. One of my top essentials for sure! You can buy this at National Bookstore. The broad one is P102 and the regular size is P68.75.
