Brushpens are one of the most common tools when you want to do brush lettering/calligraphy. There are a lot of brands out there, but there is one that I just love sooo much! Basing from the title, you probably already know that I'm talking about the Tombow Dual Brushpens!!! ❤ Ever since I got them, I just always, ALWAYS use them (my Instagram feed is my proof! (★^O^★) I actually made a new youtube video swatching ALL 96 colors and made a review about it. You can watch it here:
So just a quick recap. These pens are super awesome and I highly recommend them, but I do have to say something that I didn't touch on the video. For me personally, if you are just starting out with calligraphy I don't suggest you diving right in with the Tombow because this tool can be a bit "advance" since you need a LOT of control when using this. Plus, it's a bit pricey so I suggest you practice first with an affordable brush pen (Crayola Super Tips is very good!) and once you get the hang of it, the Tombow Dual Brushpen is a dream to use. Though you can buy them individually so maybe you can buy 1 pen and just try it out to see, but I don't suggest you buy all 96 at once.
I also mentioned in the video that some colors are washed out and not readable especially some shades for the yellows, blues and pinks.. BUT!! they are very very good for blending, though if you are going to use the pens to write, then I don't suggest you buy the paler colors. Generally ALL colors are very vibrant and the inks on these pens are very looooong lasting! I have mine for almost 3 years now and almost all are still staying strong, except for some colors that I abused.. hahaha (ಥ⌣ಥ)
PROS:
1. Very good quality
2. Vibrant colors and long lasting ink
3. Bendable tip/brush and can handle pressure well
3. You're getting a 2-in-1 product
4. Great for Blending
5. It's water based meaning you can activate it with water and achieve a watercolor effect.
6. WIDE range of colors to choose from!
CONS:
1. Can be pricey.
2. Not recommended for beginners, needs a LOT of control.
3. Some colors are washed out (pale shades) and not readable.
4. Brush can frill up eventually (but after a looong time)
VERDICT: Highly Highly recommend these pens but it can be a bit advance to use and pricey.
Hope you guys enjoy my quick review and I do hope you can also subscribe to my Youtube Channel!
